Before you call anyone

Straight answers, before you spend a minute on us.

Grant consulting is a field where it's easy to make claims and hard to check them. Here's how we work — stated plainly, so you can hold us to it later.

We don't sell equipment.

No apparatus, no PPE, no radios, no software licenses sold to your department — and no manufacturer sponsors this work. If a company that sells you gear also offers free grant help, that help is real, but it's written around their catalog. The project we recommend is the one your department needs.

We don't work on contingency.

Our fees are flat and agreed in writing before any work begins. We never take a percentage of an award — that's a problem under federal cost principles, and it's a bad incentive besides: it pushes a consultant toward the biggest number instead of the right project.

We don't guarantee awards — and neither can anyone else.

Funding agencies score and decide. What we commit to is an application that is complete, submitted on time, and written directly to the published evaluation criteria.

We'll tell you when a grant isn't worth your time.

A long-shot application costs your staff real hours and your department a cycle. When the fit is weak, we say so before you commit — not after.

You review and sign everything.

Nothing goes to a funder on your department's behalf until your authorized official has read it and approved it. Your name is on it, so it's your call.

What we do

From "we should apply for that" to funded.

Most departments know grant money is out there — they just don't have the time to chase it. We run the whole cycle for you, end to end.

Find

We continuously scan federal, state, and foundation sources so you rarely miss an opportunity your department qualifies for.

Match

GrantRadar scores each opportunity against your department's size, needs, and eligibility — so you focus only on grants you're truly competitive for.

Write

Our team drafts and packages competitive applications — narratives, budgets, and required attachments — built to reviewers' criteria.

Win

We manage deadlines, submissions, and post-award reporting — so nothing is missed on the way in, and every award you win stays compliant after it lands.

Is your department ready to receive federal funds?

Most applications that fail never get scored — they're ruled out on eligibility or paperwork before a reviewer ever reads the narrative. Answer eight questions and see where you stand. Nothing leaves your browser unless you choose to send it.

This is a readiness checklist — not an eligibility determination, and not a prediction of an award. Only the funding agency decides who is eligible and who is funded.

How we charge

Most firms in this field won't discuss money until you're on a call. Here are the rules we work by — you can hold us to every one of them.

  1. Flat fees, in writingEvery engagement is quoted as a fixed fee and agreed in writing before any work begins. No hourly surprises, no invoice you didn't approve.
  2. Never a percentageWe don't take a cut of your award. Contingency pricing pushes a consultant toward the biggest number instead of the right project — and it's a problem under federal cost principles.
  3. Quoted after we lookThe assessment is free. The quote comes after it, once we know whether you need one equipment application or a multi-year staffing case — those aren't the same job.

If a grant isn't worth what it would cost you to chase it, we'll tell you that instead of quoting it.

Honest fit check

Is this a fit for your department?

We'd rather tell you now than take an engagement that was never going to work. Here's who we do our best work for — and who we don't.

We're probably a good fit if…

  • You're a fire, EMS, or police agency — career, combination, or volunteer — in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, or Nebraska.
  • You have real needs you can document: aging apparatus, SCBA past service life, staffing gaps, training or equipment shortfalls.
  • Nobody on staff has the hours to track deadlines and write to reviewer criteria.
  • You can give us a few hours across a cycle for a kickoff, questions, and a review before submission.
  • You want someone accountable for the whole process — not just a document handed back to you.

We're probably not a fit if…

  • You need someone to guarantee an award, or want to pay only as a percentage of what you win.
  • The deadline is days away and nothing has been started — good applications need lead time.
  • You're outside our six states. We'd rather refer you than pretend we know your state's programs.
  • Your department can't commit any staff time at all — we need your data and your sign-off.
  • You're looking for a grant to cover something the program plainly doesn't fund.
FAQ

Questions departments ask us.

Not sure where to start? Here's how working with LifeLine Grants actually works.

What kinds of grants do you help with?
Federal, state, and select foundation grants for fire, EMS, and police — covering apparatus, equipment, PPE, staffing, training, technology, and community safety programs.
Do we need to be tech-savvy or manage software?
No. GrantRadar runs behind the scenes — we handle the search, matching, and paperwork. You just tell us your priorities. A client portal is available if you'd like to follow along in real time.
What if we've never applied for a grant before?
That's exactly who we help most. We run the full process end to end — finding the opportunity, writing the application, and managing deadlines and reporting.
How do you decide which grants to pursue?
GrantRadar scores every opportunity against your department's size, service area, and needs — so we focus only on grants you're genuinely eligible to win, not long shots.
How much does it cost?
Here's how our pricing works, before you even ask for a number. Fees are flat and agreed in writing before any work begins — you will never receive an invoice you didn't approve first. We do not work on contingency and never take a percentage of an award: beyond being a bad incentive, percentage-of-award compensation is a problem under federal cost principles. The assessment is free, and a quote follows it — because a single equipment application and a multi-year staffing request are not the same job, and pretending otherwise would mean overcharging one of you. If a project isn't worth the fee, we'll say so.
